DTTWSB Week 2 NFL Picks

Now that Week 1 is in the books, we turn the page to Week 2 in the NFL season. Last week I went 10-6 with my picks. The Monday Night Football games absolutely killed me. I knew the Chargers and Chiefs was going to be a good game, but I didn't think the Chiefs had enough to win. They definitely proved me wrong. I think Week 1 is the hardest week to pick games because there are so many unknowns. Now that I've seen every team in action, I'll be looking to improve on my current 10-6 record.

Ravens at Bengals: Bengals

This is a huge early season game for the AFC North. If you were to ask me who the better team is on paper, I would instantly say the Ravens. As we all know though, the game isn't played on paper. The Bengals will be playing with a desperate mentality because they cannot afford to start the season 0-2. Also, the Ravens just played a physical game on the road last week, and they now have a short week to prepare since they played on Monday night. My gut tells me the Bengals win this one.

Steelers at Titans: Titans

Like the Ravens and Jets game a week ago, this will be another headbanger's ball. These are two physical football teams that play great defense. Both teams are well coached and don't make mental errors. Ultimately, I think Steelers quarterback Dennis Dixon gets exposed on the road against that Titans defense. Look for this game to low scoring. The Steelers are my pick from the AFC to make it to the Super Bowl but I think they fall short this week, although it wouldn't surprise me if they won.

Patriots at Jets: Jets

A lot of people are jumping of the Jets bandwagon because they lost to the Ravens last week. I'm not one of those people. I think the Jets will be able to run the ball on the Patriots defense with ease on Sunday. The matchup everyone wants to see is Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss agaisnt Jets corner back Darrelle Revis. Personally, I think Revis should be able to contain him. The Jets should also be able to get pressure on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Jets head coach Rex Ryan should have this team ready to play on Sunday.

Giants at Colts: Colts

Manning Bowl II should be similar to the first one that took place four years ago. I like the Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning to bounce back nicely Sunday night. For the Giants to win they have to stay committed to the run. Younger brother Eli Manning cannot afford to turn the ball over in this game. Ultimately I think the Giants will be asked to do too much on the road to win this game. I like Indianapolis.

***Upset Special***
Saints at 49ers: 49ers

This is my upset of the week. Last Sunday the 49ers had a terrible showing on the road at Seattle. Quarter back Alex Smith looked rattled by the Seahawks defense. This week he will be playing in front of his home crowd so he should feel a little more comfortable in the pocket. I love the 49ers defense in this game because of middle linebacker Patrick Willis. I think he will be excellent in pass defense against quarterback Drew Brees and that Saints passing attack. The game will also be played on Monday Night Football which gives the 49ers more incentive to win behind a pumped up crowd.

The rest of the weeks picks:

Cardianls at Falcons: Falcons
Chiefs at Browns: Browns
Bears at Cowboys: Cowboys
Eagles at Lions: Eagles
Bills at Packers: Packers
Dolphins at Vikings: Vikings
Buccaneers at Panthers: Panthers
Seahawks at Broncos: Broncos
Rams at Raiders: Raiders
Jaguars at Chargers: Chargers
Texans at Redskins: Redskins
