Entering the third week of the season, we have a better gauge of how good some teams are. A lot of teams impressed while others looked as bad as they did during Week 1. Again, like the first week of the season, the second week likes to cause a lot of knee-jerk reactions. A lot of people crown teams when we haven't even finished the first month of the season. With that said, here are the Week 3 power rankings.
1. New York Jets (1-1): The Jets played up to their ability last Sunday when they dominated the Patriots on both sides of the ball. With their talent, the Jets should beat every team in the league. The development of quarterback Mark Sanchez will determine how far this team goes.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0): My Super Bowl representative in the AFC is looking like a genius pick right now. It's only Week 3, but the Steelers look better than I thought they would, and I was raving about this team in the offseason. They will be scary good when they get quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back from suspension.
3. New Orleans Saints (2-0): The defending champs are picking up right where they left off last season. This is a team that is well-coached and lead by one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Drew Brees. The defense is a little shaky, especially when they play good teams though.
4. Baltimore Ravens (1-1): The Ravens are a balanced football team but Joe Flacco and that passing game has got to get better if they want to go deep in the playoffs. The defense and running game a top notch. When they get free safety Ed Reed back they will be even better defensively.
5. Indianapolis Colts (1-1): Here's a team that is very difficult to beat if they can get ahead of you early. Just ask the Giants if you need confirmation. There is no reason they can't win the division, but they may stumble in the playoffs.
6. Green Bay Packers (2-0): Green Bay looked great throughout preseason and they've looked great to start the season. Aaron Rodgers is a great young quarterback and he is leading that Packers offense in spite of that leaky offensive line. They may be in trouble this week when they travel to Chicago.
7. New England Patriots (1-1): The Pats are a very good football team despite some of their glaring holes. Last Sunday their offensive line was exposed against that Jets front seven. With that said, as long as you have Brady and Belichick together, you will be always be in the hunt.
8. Houston Texans (2-0): This is everyones surprise team of the 2010 season. I think they're a good football team but I'm not as high on them as everyone else is. They have a huge game with the rival Cowboys this Sunday for state bragging rights. We'll see if they get it done.
9. Dallas Cowboys (0-2): In Dallas, the theme of all the talk radio shows and newspaper has been "the sky is falling". Despite the 0-2 start I still feel comfortable saying that the Cowboys will be in the Super Bowl come February. I think they get some critics of their back this Sunday when they play Houston.
10. Cincinatti Bengals (1-1): Here is a ticking time bomb if I've ever seen one. The Bengals look like a new version of the 2008 Dallas Cowboys. They have great weapons but I'm not sure they can compete with the Steelers or Ravens. Keep your eye on this team though because if they click, they can play with some of the best teams in the league.
