It is now time to separate the men from the boys. We're now about to start Week 1 of the NFL which means it's time for me to rank the top 10 teams in the league to start the season. Again, the way I rank these teams doesn't necessarily reflect how I think the season will go. It's where I see these teams right now. After this week we'll be able to break down some actual regular season tape. Here are my Week 1 power rankings for the NFL season.
1. Green Bay Packers: The defending champs begin their quest for a repeat with a tough Thursday night matchup against a great Saints team.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers: With an elite quarterback and an elite defense, the Steelers are poised to make another run at the Lombardi Trophy.
3. New England Patriots: Can the Patriots finally get out of their own way and come up big in the post season like they did several years ago? Only time will tell.
4. New Orleans Saints: With a resurgence to the running game the Saints offense looks like it may be more explosive than it was during their Super Bowl season.
5. New York Jets: With all the pieces in place there is only one question that remains. Is Mark Sanchez ready to take this team to the Super Bowl?
6. Baltimore Ravens: For the Ravens this season it's all about two games. Are they ready to be the bigger bully than the Steelers?
7. Philadelphia Eagles: The "Dream Team" Eagles look fantastic on paper but have been shaky in the preseason. The hype maybe too much for them to handle.
8. Atlanta Falcons: The Georgia Dome will be a track meet this season with all the weapons this team has, but it's the defense that keeps me skeptical.
9. San Diego Chargers: Norv Turner and the Chargers have historically started slow. With Kansas City emerging, they cannot afford to do that anymore.
10. Dallas Cowboys: There are a lot of questions when it comes to America's Team. The one main stay is quarterback Tony Romo who is now back at the helm for the 'Boys.
